Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his future after a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's worst streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got plenty of backing from above,” Slot stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

The manager lamented familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with results so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And until it is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, prove once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
