Emma Raducanu ends the current season and will keep trainer for 2026.
Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slams this year.
The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments in 2025 as a result of the illness that has affected her in recent days.
At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but opted to return home to recover before starting her preparations for 2026.
Those preparations are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals will keep partnering in 2026.
The tennis professional required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.
She needed once more medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.
Her movement was with clear difficulty in the deciding set against Zhu due to back discomfort that has troubled her during parts of the season.
Those results signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the world's top 30 after more than three years in more than three years, finished with a trio of defeats.
The athlete was close to victory with three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in Beijing last month.
The player achieved twenty-eight matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.
The British number one advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.
She worked with Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.
The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled late this year.
The athlete revealed that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.
She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
